Earlier this week, a one month old British Airways Airbus A320neo suffered fumes in the cabin on the taxi at London Heathrow, prompting a return back to the gate.
Moreover, information is limited surrounding this incident.
Below is what we know on this so far…
British Airways Flight BA650 – London Heathrow to Mykonos…
British Airways flight BA650 is a routine scheduled flight between London Heathrow and Mykonos Island in Greece.
Also, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was G-TTNX.
As per data from Planespotters.net, G-TTNX is a 0.2 year old Airbus A320neo that was only delivered to the airline on July 6, 2024.
Furthermore, the aircraft entered commercial service two days after.
Of the Airbus A320neo variant, British Airways has 25 of them in their fleet.
Moreover, within the 25, all but two are in active service, with an average fleet age of 3.6 years.
Also, as well as that aircraft type, the carrier has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:
- 29 Airbus A319s.
- 65 A320ceos.
- 26 A321s.
- 18 A350s.
- 12 A380s.
- 59 Boeing 777s.
- 39 Boeing 787s.
- 4 Dornier Do-328 JETs.
- 20 Embraer E190s.
British Airways flight BA650, operated by the one-month old Airbus A320neo pushed back from the gate at London Heathrow at 1055 local time on August 7 and started taxiing out for departure to Mykonos.
As per @FlightEmergency on X, it is understood that the aircraft returned to the gate due fumes filling the cabin during the taxi process.
Furthermore, RadarBox data indicated that the flight was cancelled due to this technical issue.
Aircraft Grounded For Over 24 Hours…
Data from RadarBox.com highlights that G-TTNX, the one month old British Airways Airbus A320neo was grounded overnight following the incident on the ground at London Heathrow (LHR).
Moreover, it re-entered commercial service over 24 hours later, and has operated the following flights since:
- BA680 – LHR-Istanbul.
- BA675 – Istanbul-LHR.
- BA844 – LHR-Dubrovnik.
- BA845 – Dubrovnik-LHR.
- BA1338/1339 – LHR to Jersey & Back.
- BA602 – LHR-Istanbul.
- BA603 – Istanbul-LHR.
Overall, no additional incidents have been reported with the aircraft following the flight cancellation that took place on August 7.
